Small and elegant

Cartier is well-known for their elegance and timeless designs, but there is more than designs that we admire at Gaillard. The history behind the pieces.

The story goes that back in 1904 Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont complained to his friend Louis Cartier about the issues he encounters when using a pocket watch while flying. Thereby, Louis Cartier designed the Cartier Santos Dumont, which is widely considered to be the first purpose-built wristwatch.

The Santos Dumont shows the craftsmanship of Cartier, and the timeless design features we admire about Cartier.

This Santos Dumont 7809 from 1994 features a 18k yellow gold case equipped with a manual movement, blue sword shaped hands and of course the iconic roman numerals. But this stylish piece has also got one small feature we love. A ‘Paris’ signed dial.

A historical piece for anyone who spends less time choosing, because they go for timeless.
