Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo XI 30th Anniversary Edition

The Omega Speedmaster reference 3560.50.00 is a special edition Moonwatch released in 1999 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. It features a 42mm stainless steel case with a manually wound chronograph movement. The black dial is matte with three subdials—30-minute, 12-hour, and continuous seconds, and uses white printed text and applied luminous markers.

The caseback is engraved with “Hello Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.” This quote, taken directly from Neil Armstrong's transmission during the Apollo 11 mission, is engraved in script font along with the exact landing time and date: “July 21, 1969, 02:56 GMT.” The mission patch, showing an eagle landing on the lunar surface, is also engraved into the caseback. Each watch is individually numbered, with a limited production of 9,999 pieces.

Inside the watch beats the Omega Caliber 1861, a hand-wound chronograph movement with a 48-hour power reserve. The 1861 is a descendant of the Caliber 321 and Caliber 861 before it, sharing the same architecture used in the Moonwatches worn during the Apollo program.

The 3560.50.00 sits prominently in the Speedmaster lineage as one of the earliest anniversary tributes to Apollo 11. Unlike later commemorative editions that often use limited dial artwork or exhibition casebacks, this reference preserves the traditional Moonwatch appearance while discreetly marking the historical milestone on the back.
