Rolex GMT-Master Rootbeer Ref. 1675/3 Nipple Dial

The Rolex GMT-Master was introduced in the 1950s. This timepiece was made for pilots to display Greenwich Mean Time by just rotating the bezel. In 1954 the GMT-Master was first released under the reference 6542. This reference was discontinued in 1959 and followed up by the reference 1675. This series had many different interesting configurations.

This Rootbeer GMT-Master from 1975 is one of those interesting configurations. It is the first ever tool watch from Rolex available in two tone. Instead of painted hour markers like most GMT-Masters from this reference, this Rootbeer has applied hour markers on the matte brown dial. Due to the shape of these markers, collectors nicknamed this a nipple dial. The warm brown tone in combination with the two tone aluminum bezel insert give the watch a typical 70s appeal. The watch comes on a matching two tone folded Jubilee with Gay Frères style clasp.
